美術との体験

私は最近何回もＭＥＴ美術館へ行きました、今美術史を習っていますから。このクラスから、美術の事いろいろ勉強になりました。このクラス前に、美術の事は全然知りません、今変えました。然しながら、いろいろまだ分かりません。半分分かりませんは少しとても深い意味ある美術です。以外半分は私見るながら、「これは如何に美術ですか？」と言うの美術です。一番半分はとても素敵なと思います、二番はあまり上手じゃ有りませんと思いますが、然しとても人気で、いろいろ人が勉強しました。この二つの分かる事を得ると欲しいです、これから頑張ります！

春休み

この春休み私はカリフォルニアへ帰ります。私の家はマウンテンビューと読んでいます。とてもきえいな場所です。天気は何時もいいです、雪も全然ありません、雨も少ないです、大抵毎日太陽の見える事が出来ます。家で友達に会いますと家族を見ます。後で二日の時間でニューヨークへ帰ります。そして最後の週末ハーバードへ行きます、剣道大会のためですから。この大会は米国で一番大きいな剣道大会です。とても楽しみにしています！

About Communication

1. What do you expect to learn from the podcast project? (List as many as you can.)

I expect to learn to communicate in ways that are different from what we learn in blog posts. I also hope to learn some ways to try to universally communicate messages to people from different countries. We hope to communicate our message in a way that both Americans and Japanese people can understand and appreciate. I hope to learn to use different types of media to communicate in new, fun, and interesting ways.
 

2. What does "communication" mean to you

 

Communication means being able to convey a message to another person about something in a clear and meaningful way. The audience the message is intended for should also be able to relate to it easily. Good communication is not confusing, and conveys the intended message without being misinterpreted. It should also be easy for the intended audience to fully grasp and understand the intended message.

私好きな音楽

私は音楽とても好きです。子供時にから、音楽が聞いています。聞きますの時にロークが好きです、でも自分で音楽を作り時に、クラシックが好き、フレンチホルンが出来ますから。一番好きな作品をしますはGustav Holstの作品、Planetsと呼んでいます。凄くきれいな音楽です、とても楽しかったします。今フレンチホルンを止めましたですけど、未来に又練習したいです。

私の冬休み

この冬休みはとても楽しかったです。日本へ行きました。幾場所を見ました。大体東京と京都行きました、でも奈良も、埼玉もと千葉も行きました。私は旅行となぎなた練習のため行きました。たくさん優しい人が会いました。友達と一緒に行きました，半分はコロンビア大学のなぎなた部員、別人は別の大学のなぎなた部員の友達です。私たちはなぎなた練習して、買い物して、と神社を行きました。私一番好きな行ったの所は本物な防具屋さんです，アメリカにありませんから、そして私はなぎなたと剣道がします。それ以外、たくさん美味しい食べ物が食べました。一番好きな食べ物はつけ面でした。とても楽しかったです。

Penguins and seals

Went “clap clap”

In the first poem, I use katakana to express an onomatopoeia of a loud, abrupt, and startling sound. バトン is used to represent a "BANG!" It shows how startling the sound would be in the middle of the dark/night, and how it would scare someone wondering around in the dark. This is ironic because the origin of the sound is not scary, but is actually caused by a small kitten.

In the second poem, I use katakana for emphasis. It emphasizes the number one, and portrays the frailty and fleetingness of life. It also helps emphasize how small and short a life is also.

In the third poem, katakana again expresses an onomatopoeia, but this time a clapping sound.  I also use オンガクドウ　instead of 音楽堂 to emphasize that the concert hall is more metaphorical than actual. I am making a strange metaphor about the concert hall, so I use a less formal version of the word by writing it in katakana instead of kanji. It also functions like a verb in a way, because it shows that the audience and seals clap. I make a metaphor of the people in the concert hall with penguin do to the suits they are wearing and seals do to the clapping that they do in unison at the end of a song.

今、一番欲しい物は新パソコンです。毎日に六回超過パソコンを使います。そして、パソコン私には凄く大切な物です。パソコンで宿題も遊びもします。パソコンがありませんければ、それは困るです。四年前、父は私のパソコン壊れてしました、そして一ヶ月ぐらい自分のパソコンがありませんでした。毎日しましの物出来ませんでした、自分のパソコンがありませんでしたから。あの時、電気屋さんへ新パソコンを買いに行きたいしました。スピードが高いパソコンが一番好きです。でも、今新パソコンを買いません、金がありませんですから。
